In this episode of “From the Ground Up,” I analyze and re-construct Johnny Bush’s 1973 recording of “The Warm Red Wine,” from his RCA LP “Texas Dance Hall Girl.” I am joined by special guest Bob Appel, who provided the rhythm guitar and vocals for this project. Here is a lesson that breaks down Leon Rhodes’ guitar solo from the live version of “Drivin’ Nails in my Coffin.” This solo is a great example of ornamentation on the main melody of a song. Tab is below.
